Whatever. I have have decided that since we are adopting to take on the mindset that I am no longer going to jail myself within the confines of my infertility. The 6×8 cell walls we have been living in held us back from living, planning and hoping again. I just did some pretty crazy, unheard of things for an infertile… I went into a Babies R’ Us. Yep. I’m talking pregnant chics everywhere. I had been treating this place like a leper colony, but you know what? I survived it, not at all traumatized! Now, since we decided on adopting we have been able to take on a new mindset and be able to start thinking about our future. The question was different than it had been now. It was no longer IF we will be parents but WHEN.
Part of the adoption process requires us to create an adoption profile book. (More on this on a later post) We needed pictures! More so, I know that I will never have that perfectly round baby bump, maternity clothes and all things gestational. Why let that hold me back from living my life as an expectant mom through another form of family building… Adoption. I decided to also do an “Adoption Maternity” photo shoot. Just because I don’t have a bump, doesn’t mean I should be left out on all of the fun. That’s when Erin entered into the picture, literally. Or I guess that is when she came with a camera to take pictures.
So, Erin is a very talented photographer, owner of Erin Collen Photography, that Candace has worked with in the past. Her portfolio is packed with amazing pictures of individuals, families, and couples each with a real feeling of life truly captured in the image. We asked her to help us with our profile book not sure exactly what would be the best to shoot. Erin’s creative genius took care of that! What is the best way to explain Erin? Hmmm… maybe it could be summarized like this. Erin is EFFING AWESOME! She not only froze her bum off with us, as usual the day we got together to do the photos was unusually cold, but she was genuinely concerned with capturing us in a way that would show potential birth parents who we were. We met at one of her favorite photo spots and we brought a ton of different clothes and props and let Erin unleash her photographic brilliance on us. She seems to have an unreal vision of how to use what we brought to bring out the best in us. And the whole time, we heard nothing but funny quips and great stories coming from the other side of the lens. We can’t thank her enough for everything she did for us. Without further adieus, here are some of the photos that she took of us on that cold A$# day:
This is just a few pictures from our shoot. Our theme of our profile book is fill these red shoes.
Chris got his first pair of Toms and so did our “one day” baby.
We had a blast! Aside from it being freeeeeezzing, it was a beautiful day!
Shameless plug.. http://www.etsy.com/shop/Ourmisconception
Oh so true, we have been wanting, waiting and praying for a dirty diaper maker of our own. (Weird?) The chair will go in our baby’s room. I found it at a consignment store for $10.00, and thought is was perfect!
Chris is a goofball. He was being the natural comedian he is. We didn’t know she was taking a picture during this part.
Insert baby here.
I just love this picture!
I can’t wait to come back to this very place and have a family picture done…
Erin, did an amazing job. She is actually coming back to our house soon to do a “Lifestyle” shoot. (Teaser … that will be in a future post I’m sure) This will capture a day in the life of C&C and will really help with filling in some of the gaps we have in our profile book! http://erincolleenphotography.com/
