Erin Go Bragh.. Stirrup Style

March 16, 2013 -

Want to know what doesn’t suck about being infertile? ALL THE BEER you can drink this Saint Patty’s Day! So those who are in stirrups, amped up on meds or in the constant limbo of Waitland, USA … bottoms up I say! This is a great holiday to drain all of the good luck juju into your baby-making efforts, because let’s face it, we can use all the luck we can muster in this journey. Speaking of those in need of some good ol’ fashion luck of the Irish, here is a snippet from a fellow blogger we frequently follow on the twitter-sphere: www.999reasontolaugh.com. I had to share!

Tips on how to spend St. Patty’s Day… Infertile Style

1. Wear a pair of good-luck green underwear to your transvaginal appointment.
2. Start your day with Lucky Charms cereal to give you some luck.
3. Ask your fertility doctor to paint your fertilized embryos green.
4.Find a leprechaun to rub your belly.
5.Ask your partner to dress like a leprechaun and get busy.
6.Pour some green food coloring into your husband’s semen analysis cup.
7.Paint your face green and pretend that you have morning sickness.
8. Find a four leaf clover and ask your RE to insert it directly into your uterus. ( My personal Favorite) — Well done 999 Reasons!

While you are drowning your infinite baby sorrows in that Irish Car bomb/green beer.. try going on a cupcake binge on these:
Picture taken by Christina who probably had about 8 of these today!!!

Guinness Stout Chocolate Cupcakes with Whipped Pistachio Frosting

1 box of Devils Food Cake
Follow the box recipe, except substitute the water with 1 cup Guinness stout … feel free to drink the rest.  Bake as directed.

Frosting
2 boxes of pistachio instant pudding mix
2 containers of Cool Whip
Mix and add a 1/4 cup of whole milk or slightly more to dissolve the sugar (you don’t want any grainy texture to it).   Cut a small cavity in the surface of the cupcake using a knife then fill with the pistachio/cool whip filling.

Enjoy and happy St. Patty’s Day!!!

Def going to try this one…I’m just all out of Guinness right now. I usually do have Guinness (well.. you know me) & devil’s food cake mix (for a cookie recipe) around the house. I really want to try this recipe. Have you had the Guinness milkshakes (fo a limited time) at Red Robin? The shakes sound like they would be good, but I’m still skeptical to try. I’m not sure of ice cream & beer combo. Thanks for posting, Teaira
