There’ll be a pretty steamy GIVEAWAY from the super creative people at The Game of Love in this post folks so read on … I am also going to get a little real here. Like, the door to the bedroom of an infertile couple is about to come off the hinges for a bit.
Sex and infertility.
These two words go together like peanut butter and jelly do right? More like peanut butter with a side of tears, pain, embarrassment and sexual exposure to the inth degree. Ever do an acrobatic handstand after you do the deed? How about when the both of you lay there, still in position, after canoodling for a seemingly awkward amount of time to make sure the “package is delivered.” Or that time where the plastic cup at the fertility clinic sees more action then you do…
There are no scenes from a 50 Shades book here when you are desperately trying to conceive, trust me things can get a little yawnnnnnnnnn… boring in the bedroom. What used to be that fun, almost forbidden thing that could get you pregnant “if you aren’t careful” transitioned to at some point, that thing that makes babies that used to be fun. As a woman you feel broken and exposed. Your body is changing rapidly due to the giant box of fertility medications creating a super sad, bloated, hormone casserole. Not to mention your husband walks around feeling like a piece of meat with two sperm bags dangling between his legs. Chris totally LOVED all of the sex, no seriously. I think. Maybe. Not. Come to think of it, he did seem very reluctant whenever I waved pee-coated ovulation strips at him. Hmmm—-who is slightly unhinged? Ahh, romance.
So…
The spontaneity is GONE. As is your sexuality as a couple. I think it is time you do something about it. Below are 3 simple things you can try to heat up the cold sheets and dare I say it, enjoy sex once again? Oh, and at the end, an epic giveaway from our friends at The Game of Love .
Do Something Spontaneous
When it starts to get a little cold and regimented, how about doing something a little daring and spontaneous. Find a new spot to tumble. Slip a steamy note into your partner’s lunch bag. Play a game and make it fun not work! Point is, do something that is different and unexpected from the humdrum normal hanky panky you have been used to doing.
Your Partner is not a Piece of Man-Meat/Egg-Donor!
This is sad and can reign true for so many couples who have been trying for years, but, show your partner affection when you’re NOT ovulating or cycling. They are probably feeling really vulnerable and are experiencing a lot of new emotions that are brought on by the struggle and pressure of trying to have a baby. A little tender loving care both emotionally and physically can really help change the mood. Compliment your partner daily, give backrubs without request of one, and lastly talk about something other than the proverbial “elephant in the womb.”
Remember What Sex USED to Be Like?
Ohhh the good ol’ days… Take a trip down memory lane and try to remember what used to heat things up. FLIRT. Put in a little extra effort to attracting your partner like you did when you first met. Which means for the girls, shave those legs (and beyond), swap the leggings and sweat pants for something a little sexier and break out the red lipstick. For the fellas, foreplay starts with flirting not a “roll over and grab the boob move.” Manscape, and dab on that cologne your partner just bought you for Christmas. A little effort will go a long way.
Now, for what I am really excited about!
In my pursuits to add some spontaneity in our lives and to write this post, I came across this really creative and awesome idea from Monica Mangin. Her talents are endless, she is a TV Host, Designer, DIY Blogger, Expert on Live! With Kelly and Michael and is ridiculously talented! When she was a young and broke college student, she wanted to do something a little spicy and unforgettable for her first anniversary. That’s where she came up with creating a bed sheet game to heat things up. A few years later she posted her idea on her DIY blog East Coast Creative and it was a viral hit. Oh, and her blog ROCKS FYI, totally worth swinging by and checking it out.
Alright, so we just talked about being spontaneous and warming up those cold sheets… here’s your chance. The Game of Love is a bedroom board game that is printed onto a fitted sheet and is ready for you to personally customize it with washable markers. When you are ready, set on your “slow jams” play list, get a little heavy handed on your wine pour and you and your partner will roll the die together. The best part, everyone in the end wins, at least we hope so!
Apart from the amazing Monica and her team offering to give away a free kit to one of you, they are spreading the love and have included a Valentine’s Day Promo Code: LOVEISINTHEAIR for those who decide to not wait for the giveaway. So go ahead and snatch one up before Valentine’s Day.

After 10 years of ttc, 5 yrs of fertility treatments, 5 failed iui’s, moving onyo ivf, a bfn fresh transfer, a bfp fet followed by a miscarriage, 3 more bfn fet, a 5 months break and finally another bfp we finally have our baby girl. Followed by not much of a sex life. I think after so much routine I would definitely write “be spontaneous” on one of the game pieces.
